1st Round of BNP Paribas Open begins at Indian Wells

1st Round action begins with the women of the Sony Ericsson WTA as Justine Henin plays her final event as a wildcard entrant.  Henin easily won her opening match of the tournament.  As this is her 3rd event since coming back from a 2 year retirement, Henin will have WTA ranking after this tournament.

Henin struggled with her 1st serve, only hitting 48%.  However, she was never broken and only faced 4 break points.  Her groundstrokes easily overpowered her opponent, Magdalena Rybarikova.

None of the seeded players will see action in the 1st Round.
