2010 Australian Open Day 10

More quarterfinals upsets on both the men’s and women’s draws – Novak Djokovic (3) fell ill and squandered a lead against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (10).

Top seed Roger Federer got off to a slow start, losing the first set before coming alive to dominate Nikolay Davydenko (6) in 4 sets.

For the women, China’s Na Li (16) shocked the world by defeating Venus Williams (6). Li will join countrywoman Jheng Jie in the semifinals, a first for China.

Victoria Azarenka (7) dominated Serena Williams (1) for almost two full sets.  Almost wasn’t good enough against Serena, as she came from behind to tie, then cruise to a win. Williams showed the competitiveness and determination that has made her the best in the world. Down a set and two breaks, she willed herself to victory against an opponent who never let up.
