2010 Australian Open Day 11

The Final is set for the women, and it is no surprise to many fans.  No. 1 Serena Williams will try to defend her title against the recently un-retired Justine Henin.

Williams won her semifinal match vs. Li Na in two close sets, 7-6,7-6, while Henin defeated Jheng Jie 6-1,6-0.

Remarkably, it will be the first time Williams and Henin have met in a Grand Slam final, though they combine for 18 titles. “We’ve never played in a Grand Slam final in the past. It’s my first Grand Slam since I’m back, and we’re already there. So it’s more than a dream. I mean, I’m so happy to play against her because if I want to win another Grand Slam, I’ll have to beat the best player of the world. And that’s just the biggest challenge I could get,” said Henin.

In the men’s semifinal match, Andy Murray (5) defeated Marin Cilic (14) in four sets.  Cilic came out strong, taking the first set, it was the first dropped set of the event for Murray. Murray rebounded and never looked back, winning the next 3 sets.
