Allen Americans Defeat Rapid City

To end year of 2014, the Allen Americans came out victorious as they snapped their two game losing streak against the visiting Rapid City Rush for a 5-3 win. Jack Combs with a hat trick, Rylan Schwartz and Garret Clarke get the goals for the win. Aaron Dell made 28 saves on the 31 shots he faced in the game.

1st period

Rylan Schwartz gave the Allen Americans a 1-0 lead at the 10:19 mark in the first period with Ian Schultz and Tyler Ludwig getting the assists on their first shot on goal in the game. Then Jack Combs got his 18th goal of the season with the second shot on goal for the Americans in the game. Chad Costello and Aaron Gens getting the assists on Costello’s goal. That was it for Raphel Girard as he was chased from the net after giving up two goals on two shots in the game with Danny Battochio replacing him in net.

Rapid City Rush responded with the goaltending change as Robin Soudek getting his 10th goal of the season at the 17:11 mark in the first period to make it 2-1 with Jeremy Gates and Taylor Law getting the assists.

2nd Period

Garret Clarke got his first goal of the season to give the Americans a 3-1 lead at 9:46 in the second period with a backhander that went past Battochio’s blocker side. Jesse Messier and Brett Lyon getting the

assists on Clarke’s goal. At the 11:19 mark in the second period, Jack Combs got his second goal of the game, his 19th goal of the season that went passed Battochio’s glove side after receiving a beautiul pass from Chad Costello.

Rapid City Rush made it 4-2 with a goal by Justin Fayrna after a beautiful pass by Sean Erickson that went past Aaron Dell’s blocker side with 76 seconds left in the second period. Dylan Clarke got the other assist on Fayrna’s goal.

3rd Period

Rapid City Rush scored off the rebound goal with Daniel Barczuk getting his 8th goal of the season passed Aaron Dell with Landon Oslanski and Jeremy Gates getting the assist at 10:43 in the third period that made it 4-3 Americans lead.

Jack Combs got his third goal of the game, his 20th goal of the season as he scored an empty net goal with Chad Costello and Rylan Schwartz getting the assists with 1:13 left in the game.

The next game for the Allen Americans is on Friday when they face the same Rapid City Rush for a 7:05 puck drop at the Allen Event Center.
