The Texas Rangers finished the home series against Baltimore with a 12-3 victory Wednesday night at Rangers Ballpark.
Rangers’ third baseman Adrian Beltre hit 3 home runs in the game, giving him 22 on the year. It is Beltre’s 10th season with 20 or more home runs. “It was a lot of fun,” Beltre said. “I finally had a good game offensively. I had been kind of struggling for a couple weeks. I wasn’t able to drive the ball. Today was a good day. I hit the ball hard in the air.”
First baseman Mitch Moreland also blasted a home run in the game, part of a 14-hit Texas offensive explosion. David Murphy went 3-for-3 to raise his team-leading batting average to .315.
Starting pitcher Derek Holland earned his 8th win of the year. Holland went 7 innings, giving up 3 runs and striking out 5. Former Ranger Tommy Hunter is credited with the loss, giving up 8 runs in just 3 innings.
The Rangers take 2 of 3 from the Orioles and begin a series against Minnesota tonight at the Ballpark. Roy Oswalt will take the mound for the Rangers in the 7:05pm game.
