Benn Named NHL All-Star

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby was joined by Dallas Stars left winger Jamie Benn, Anaheim Ducks right winger Corey Perry, defensemen Zdeno Chara of the Boston Bruins and Duncan Keith of the Chicago Blackhawks, and Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask as First Team All-Stars, as voted by the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association at the end of the regular season.

It is the third time being selected to the first team for Crosby and Chara, second time for Perry and Keith, and first time for Benn and Rask.

Washington Capitals right winger Alex Ovechkin highlights the second-team selections. He is joined by Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf, San Jose Sharks left winger Joe Pavelski, defensemen Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues and Shea Weber of the Nashville Predators, and Colorado Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov.

The NHL’s All-Rookie Team, also voted on by the PHWA, includes forwards Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Nathan MacKinnon of the Avalanche, and defensemen Hampus Lindholm and Torey Krug, of the Ducks and Bruins, respectively. Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen was also named to the team.
