CMRA Endurance Results From Hallett

{fshare id=2617}

Round Four of the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association’s endurance season came to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Hallett, Oklahoma this past Saturday. Sunny weather, temperatures in the 80’s and very little wind made for perfect track conditions at the 10 turn, 1.8 mile course for the morning Mini Sprints and the afternoon’s endurance races. American MotoGP racer Colin Edwards was on hand at the event, helping out with pit stops for some of the endurance teams and awarding trophies at the Mike Stephens Winner’s Circle at the end of the race as well.

The 2-Hour Mini Endurance had a combined grid of 23 teams with classes for Formula 4, 5, 6 and 7 Endurance. The Howlie Boyz team, consisting of Dean Thimjon and Jason Swan riding a Kawasaki EX250, would take the lead from Davis Rod and Cycle and go on to take the win in both Formula 4 and the Overall Mini Endurance win. The Davis Rod and Cycle team of Jesse Davis, Ryan Andrews, and Brandon Altmeyer riding a Honda CBR250R, held on to take second in both the Overall and Formula 4.

The 5-Hour Big Bike Endurance race had a combined grid of 33 teams with the classes A Superbike Endurance, C Superbike Endurance, Formula 2 Endurance, and Modern Classic Endurance. The action was very close, with four teams going at it for the top spot from the

drop of the green flag: Team SCRaceCenter.com KTM Racing, CS Carey Racing, Excel Racing, and the Village Idiots duked it out until well after the 1 hour 45 minute mark. The Village Idiots team of John Orchard, Chris Headley, Blake Cochran, and Brandon Cleland on a Yamaha YZF-R6 edged past CS Carey Racing and Team SCRaceCenter.com KTM Racing to take the lead, landing both the Overall and C Superbike Endurance win. The CS Carey Racing team of Chris Carey, Sam Carey, and Matt Hall, also on a Yamaha YZF-R6, would hold on to second for both the Overall and C Superbike Endurance. Team SCRaceCenter.com KTM Racing team of Ty Howard, Ryan Andrews, Shea Fouchek, and Jeremy Louder on a KTM RC8 would take third Overall and first in A Superbike Endurance.

Village Idiot’s team owner John Orchard had this to say, “We’re really pleased with this result and to be leading the CMRA endurance series championship again. Today was a lot of fun – we had Colin Edwards pitting next to us all race long holding the fire extinguisher during pit stops, we had over 30 teams take the green flag, and the racing was ultra-tight from start to finish. I think we had four teams on the lead lap with just over an hour to go in the race. We took the lead on lap 77 and held it through lap 216, but it could have been anyone’s race if we had made a mistake. I have to hand it to my teammates Brandon, Blake and Chris – every one of them rode amazingly consistent. We all had good stints and excellent pit work with my wife Marian keeping us organized and precise every step of the way. This was our first time this year to run the American Dunlop GPA’s. We couldn’t be more impressed with them. The grip and wear was every bit as good as the UK tire that we’ve run all season. We worked with RaceworX Jimmy Cambora on Friday to adjust the suspension set up on our RaceworX sponsored Yamaha R6 for the new GPA tire, got the bike dialed in, and we were off to the races!! Big thanks to Cori Maynard and Tony Romo with American Dunlop, and Whoopie Cycles for working with us between races to put together a great tire that goes the distance and is made right here in America! Can’t beat racing with the CMRA!”

The next CMRA endurance round is scheduled for June 9, 2012, at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, Texas. For a complete schedule and list of results, visit www.cmraracing.com
