Cowboys Officially Sign Elliott

Running back Ezekiel Elliott signed a four-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

The fourth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft is signed through 2019 with a team option for the 2020 season.

Elliott’s deal is believed to be worth $22,663,120, including a $14,742,268 signing bonus.

He’s projected as the starter for the Cowboys, who were enthralled by his combination of quickness and speed. Elliott had more than 600 touches for the Buckeyes and won four state championships in track in St. Louis.

Owner Jerry Jones said Elliott should make the team better and pointed to the success the Cowboys had in 2014 with DeMarco Murray as the bell cow. Murray left in free agency before last season and with quarterback Tony Romo sidelined by collarbone injuries, the Cowboys slipped to 4-12.

Elliott understands the high expectations that follow him to Dallas.

“I hate to lose more than I love winning, and I’m coming to Dallas to win a Super Bowl,” he said. “I live for the high expectations. I live for the big moments so I don’t think they could’ve picked a better player for this situation.
