Cowboys Rush To Victory

Dallas Cowboys rookie DeMarco Murray took all the pressure off quarterback Tony Romo and coach Jason Garrett.  Murray simply ran up and down the field against the St. Louis Rams as the Cowboys cruised to a 34-7 victory at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

Murray set a Cowboys record with 253 yards rushing, topping Emmitt Smith’s mark of 237 set in 1993.  It is the 9th most yards in NFL history.  Murray also made the 2nd longest run in team history, a 91 yard touchdown on his first carry of the game.  Murray, filling in for the injured Felix Jones, proved to be a workhorse with a team-high 25 carries.

Running back Phillip Tanner also saw playing time and scored his first NFL touchdown.  Tanner finished the game with 34 yards on 6 carries.

Quarterback Tony Romo was efficient, completing 14 of 24 attempts for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Most importantly, he threw no interceptions.  Romo had a quarterback rating of 107.3.

Receiver Dez Bryant caught 5 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown.  Tight end Jason Witten caught 5 for 35 yards and a touchdown.

The Cowboys needed this win, not only to even their record at 3-3, but also to regain their confidence after 2 heartbreaking losses.  Dallas travels to Philadelphia for a Sunday night game with the Eagles on October 30.
