Dallas Cowboys Open Rushed Training Camp
|Football is officially back as the 2011 Dallas Cowboys took to the practice field for the first time on Thursday in San Antonio. After a morning walk-thru, the players donned helmets and shields (miniature pads) for a limited contact afternoon practice.
The Cowboys also made official what has been reported for days – the release of several former starters. Marion Barber, Marc Colombo, Leonard Davis, and Roy Williams were all officially cut. 5 other non-starters or practice-squad players were also released.
The Cowboys also announced they have completed signing of all 8 draft picks, most notably, first rounder Tyron Smith, who will replace Colombo. Smith’s deal is worth $12.5 million for 4 years.
