Frank Dancevic almost did not come to Irving to play in the inaugural Dallas Tennis Classic.  After losing in the qualifying round in Indian Wells, Dancevic’s girlfriend suggested he try to make the draw in Dallas.  Dancevic not only made it through the qualifying round, he wound up winning the tournament.

Dancevic defeated Igor Andreev in straight sets to take the title.

Along the way, Dancevic dispatched the top seed, Marin Cilic, as well as the No. 5 seed, Yen-Hsun Lu.

The top seeded doubles team of Santiago Gonzalez and Scott Lipsky defeated Bobby Reynolds and Michael Russell in the championship game.

The Dallas Tennis Classic is a new stop on the ATP Challenger Tour.  With a $125,000 purse, the event drew players from all over the world to the Four Seasons Resort at Las Colinas.
