End of the line for Turco

The Dallas Stars announced today that goalie Marty Turco will not be re-signed.  Turco, who was a 3-time All Star during his 9 years with the team, holds the Stars record for most games played at goal with 509.  “I want to thank Marty for 10 years of service here,” said Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk. “He’s a friend, he’s been a terrific competitor and a fan favorite. He has a lot to be proud of.”

During his tenure, the Stars won 262 games.  Turco provided shutouts in 40 of those.   His save percentage was .911 and he had a career 2.31 goals-against average.

Turco will be replaced by Kari Lehtonen.  Lehtonen played in 12 games this season with a .911 save percentage and 2.81 GAA.
