COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Saturday, Oct. 7) – FC Dallas (10-9-12, 42 pts.) played to a 1-1 draw against the Colorado Rapids (8-18-5, 29 pts.) on Saturday night in their lone trip to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park of 2017.

First Half
6’ –  Axel Sjoberg got the first scoring chance off a corner kick in the 6th minute. Jesse Gonzalez picked up his strong play from last Saturday in Orlando, diving back across his body to get a glancing touch on Sjoberg’s header, sending it off the post where it was cleared from danger.

15’ – Colorado would open the game’s scoring at the quarter hour as Joshua Gatt sent a low cross in from the right flank, finding Stefan Aigner a the corner of the six-yard box. The Rapids’ newcomer sent a low, quick shot on goal that Gonzalez was able to get a piece of, but not enough as it trickled over the goal line.

35’ – Dallas would begin creating chances late in the opening frame beginning in the 35th minute as Roland Lamah found Ryan Hollingshead on an overlapping run on the left side. After controlling the ball at the top of the box, the defender sent a shot across the frame of goal, but just wide of the far post.

36’ – A minute later, FCD would create a look from the same area on the opposite side of the field, this time as Maxi Urruti flicked a ball to Michael Barrios at the top, right corner of the 18, but the winger couldn’t control the bouncing pass in time to deliver a clean shot before Colorado’s Eric Miller converged.

Second Half
52’ –  Gonzalez was once again forced to make an incredible stop early in the second half, as Dominique Badji connected on a header from inside the 18-yard box off the rush. The Homegrown goalkeeper made a diving effort to his right to get a hand on the high shot across the face of goal and to keep it a one-goal game.

54’ – Just two minutes later, Dallas would level the match as Atiba Harris sent home his second of the season off a corner. Javier Morales, in his third straight start, sent a ball in from the corner flag, finding the defender rising over his man at the edge of the six-yard box and sending the ball down the middle of the goal.

77’ – FCD continued their pursuit of the full three points as Maxi Urruti connected on his team-best fourth shot of the night from the right side of the area, but Rapids’ goalkeeper Zac MacMath made the stop to maintain the deadlock.
