FRISCO – FC Dallas picked up a vital point in a 0-0 draw against defending MLS Cup Champion Seattle Sounders tonight at Toyota Stadium.

First Half Notes:

15′ – Left back Maynor Figueroa switched the point of attack with a long sideline-to-sideline cross to Michael Barrios. Eyeing his 14th assist of the season, Barrios dribbled at the defense and drew some attention before sliding a pass in front of late-arriving midfielder Roland Lamah. Lamah attempted to beat Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei to the near post but a Seattle defender stepped in front of the shot, blocking it down and sending it away from danger.

19′ – Hernan Grana and Barrios combined on the right flank to set up Mauro Diaz with a shot from the top of the area. The series of one-touch passes ended with a first-touch shot, but the Argentine’s attempt skipped just wide of the post to the goalkeeper’s right side.

30′ – Kelvin Leerdam tossed a throw-in to Roman Torres and the Panamanian nodded a through pass to Nacogdoches, Texas native Clint Dempsey. The U.S. National Team forward fired an off-balance volley towards goal but the attempt sailed just over the crossbar.

39′ – Carlos Gruezo found some space 35-yards from goal and unleashed a low, hard shot that forced Frei to block the initial attempt before recovering and collecting the rebound. Lamah nearly challenged for the rebound, but Frei recovered in time to deny FC Dallas of a second attempt.

42′ – Barrios centered a pass to Kellyn Acosta. The Plano, Texas native cracked a first-touch shot with his right foot but Frei slapped the attempt away with a diving save to his left side.

Second Half Notes:
64′ – Maxi Urruti found an open lane in the center of the field, dribbled towards goal, and fired a line-drive shot towards the back post. The attempt looked to have Frei beat but it sailed wide of the post to the goalkeeper’s right side.

70′ – At the other end of the pitch, Dempsey found a similar plot of land and got off a curling shot meant for the back post. The attempt would have given Seattle it’s first shot on goal, but instead sailed well over the crossbar.

87′ – Barrios broke free of his man down the right flank and centered a pass to substitute Cristian Colman in the center of the area. Colman was in good position to redirect the pass on goal but the serve was too quick for the forward and the ball skipped through the area and out for a throw-in.
