FC Dallas Players Called For World Cup Action

FRISCO, Texas (Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012) – FC Dallas midfielder Julian de Guzman and forward Blas Perez have been called in to represent their countries in upcoming World Cup Qualifying matches. De Guzman will report to camp with the Canadian National Team while Perez joins Panama on Monday, Oct. 8.

Due to the game falling on a FIFA international date, neither player will miss any of FC Dallas’ three remaining regular season games.

De Guzman’s first task is to help Canada (2-1-1, 7 points) pick up three important points against Cuba (0-4-0, 0 points) on Oct. 12. That match is set to kick off at 6:45 p.m. CT at BMO Field in Toronto.

De Guzman, who has 59 career caps with the Canadian National Team, will then look to help Canada leap-frog Honduras (2-1-1, 7 points) in the Group 3 standings. The two sides are scheduled to meet at Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on Oct. 16. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 3 p.m. CT.

Perez, who has 23 goals in 59 appearances for his country, departs for Panama on Oct. 8. There, Panama (3-1-0, 9 points) will host Honduras at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City, Panama on Oct. 12. Panama’s second match is at Estadio Pedro Marrero in Ciudad de la Habana, Cuba on Oct. 16. That match is set to kick off at 3 p.m.
