FRISCO, Texas – Summertime continues to be kind to FC Dallas as they extended their unbeaten run to six games at Toyota Stadium on Saturday evening, downing New England 2-0 in front of 15,551 spectators.

FC Dallas were paced by a first-half goal from the impressive Andres Escobar and sealed the victory with a late goal from Tesho Akindele.

In the 17th minute the FC Dallas attack burst into life as Blas Perez laid off a ball to Escobar outside of the penalty box. Escobar would take one touch before firing a shot that forced Revolution goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth to make his first of seven saves on the night.

Escobar would finally find the back of the net in the 29th minute. After an Akindele shot clanged off the crossbar, Escobar dribbled his way into the penalty box, beating two defenders before hitting a shot that deflected past Shuttleworth at the near post.

Akindele nearly doubled FC Dallas’ lead in the 61st minute. The rookie striker found himself at the top of the penalty box and after one quick touch, his shot on goal forced Shuttleworth to make an acrobatic stop that set up one of FC Dallas’ nine corner kicks on the night.

The chances kept coming for Dallas in the second half. In the 76th minute

Moises Hernandez dribbled down the left side of the field on a 60-yard run. As the Homegrown defender entered the New England penalty box, his shot on goal wasn’t quite good enough as Shuttleworth again came to the rescue for the Revs.

Akindele would finally give FC Dallas the insurance goal that they were looking for as extra time began. He took a ball from Michel just past midfield and dribbled it all the way into the penalty box, then beat his final defender and fired a rocket of a shot past Shuttleworth for his third of the season.

The loss was New England’s seventh in a row, which ties a club record.

FC Dallas will return to action on Wednesday as they host English Premier League side Aston Villa for an international friendly. New England return to the field at home next Saturday as they host the Columbus Crew.
