Both teams created few chances in a relatively quiet first half, Chivas USA’s first half chances were limited to a late free kick by Mauro Rosales that went wide of the near post.

But things opened up significantly in the second half, with the California side breaking the scoreless deadlock in the 60th minute. Martin Rivero switched the ball to Rosales on the left side of the FC Dallas defense. He beat the Dallas defense with a sharp cross to Homegrown midfielder Marco Delgado, who finished it past Raul Fernandez for his first career goal, a day after his 19th birthday. It was only the third game this season that Chivas striker Erick Torres went without scoring.

Chivas USA looked like they were going to make Delgado’s tally stand up, but FC Dallas

substitutes David Texeira and Andres Escobar injected energy into the host side, although it wasn’t until the 83rd minute that FC Dallas equalized. Castillo was near the penalty spot when he got on the end of a cross from Jair Benitez, and redirected it past Dan Kennedy to tie the score. The goal was Castillo’s second of the year against Chivas USA.

With the draw, FC Dallas breaks a four game losing streak.

Chivas USA, on the other hand, tried to maintain the momentum of a big road win against Colorado on May 10, and picked up four points on the road swing. They were without recent addition Marvin Chavez, who scored two of the goals in that 3-1 road win over the Rapids, who was away on international duty with Honduras.

FC Dallas are scheduled for a two-game road trip against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Wednesday, followed by a game at Real Salt Lake on May 24.

Chivas USA does not play again in league play next week, but they host the Portland Timbers on May 28.
