FC Dallas Wins At KC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — FC Dallas extended its lead atop the Western Conference with a 3-2 win over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night – their first win at Children’s Mercy Park since Aug. 27, 2011.

FCD got on the board first after Michael Barrios beat Ike Opara for a ball in the defender’s half early on. Barrios regained his balance and chipped the ball over Kansas City goalkeeper Tim Melia for his first goal of the 2018 season and to give Dallas the 1-0 lead.

After a lead at the break, Gerso Fernandes leveled the game just five minutes into the second half. The forward split Marquinhos Pedroso, in his MLS debut, and Homegrown Victor Ulloa, cutting in from the edge of the box and curling a shot into the back of the net.

In the 62nd minute, Roland Lamah played Barrios through and the winger once again used his speed to get to a loose ball quicker than Melia in goal. Barrios slid a shot between the legs of the keeper off his line to give FCD a 2-1 lead.

Daniel Salloi would give Sporting life in the dying minutes of stoppage time, connecting on a cross inside the six-yard box from Ike Opara in the 97th minute. SKC had one final attempt in the remainder of the match, but FCD was able to hold on for its fifth road win of the season.
