FORT WORTH, Texas – Springtown’s Charles Carey completed his perfect season with another win and a division championship in the season finale of Friday Night Drags presented by Scion at Texas Motor Speedway.

Carey was one of six division champions crowned this past Friday evening as the fifth season of the speedway program designed to curb illegal street racing came to a close. Of the nearly 450 different competitors, Carey was the only one to go undefeated as he was victorious all six weeks of Friday Night Drags presented by Scion to earn the Black Smoke Warriors division title.

Carey, driving a Dodge Ram 2500, notched his final victory in Week 6 against Weatherford’s Marcus Gaston and

his 1987 Chevrolet S10, marking the second time the two met in the weekly finals showdown.

While Carey was dominant in his division, the Street Outlaw Division was a shootout heading in the season finale. Fort Worth’s Jason Lucas and Keller’s Brent Lancaster were tied in the championship standings, but neither qualified for the final to clinch the title. Lucas, driving a 2012 Nissan Jotech GTR, was crowned the champion based off the tiebreaker of most wins on the season. Lucas had a pair to Lancaster’s single win.

Flower Mound’s Will Wortman (2004 Subaru Impreza) won the Week 6 Street Outlaw final over Springtown’s Cody Lange (Chevrolet Z28) for his third victory of the season that left him one point shy of Lucas and Lancaster in his title bid.

In the Supercars Division, North Richland Hills’ Stephen Hannah (2010 Nissan GTR) earned the title over Trophy Club’s Adam Gerety by winning the season finale against Justin’s Mike Edwards (1989 Ford Mustang). Hannah had four wins on the season and surged to the championship by winning the last three weeks.

Travis Simpson (2006 Mitsubishi Evo 9), of Lantana, defeated Southlake’s Michael Anthony (2008 Volkswagen R32) in the final week of the Street Bandit Division, but it was not enough to overtake Fort Worth’s Daniel Bernardino (2010 Mitsubishi Evo) for the title. The win was Simpson’s third of the season, but he still fell three points shy of Bernardino and the championship.

Jesse Cecetas (2004 Honda S2000), of Haltom City, won for the fourth consecutive week to cruise to the Tuner Division title. Cecetas, who advanced to the finals all six weeks, defeated Burleson’s Kyle Stone (1987 Porsche 924S) in the final Friday evening for the second week in a row.

Southlake’s Dane Hobbs (2012 Ford Mustang), on the strength of two wins earlier in the season, claimed the Sportsman Division championship in what was the most participated division of the Friday Night Drags presented by Scion. The division had nearly 150 different competitors over the six weeks and Fort Worth’s Abel Narezo (2014 Ford Mustang GT), who finished division runner-up, defeated Trophy Club’s Steve Solomon (2013 Ford Mustang) in the final week.

The final installment of the Friday Night Drags presented by Scion season was preceded by 13 mayors from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex competing in the Mayor’s Cup to show their support of the program and its efforts to curtail illegal street racing in their communities. Frisco Mayor Maher Maso defeated Argyle Mayor Peggy Krueger in the best-of-three finals of the third annual Mayor’s Cup, a single elimination drag racing tournament driving 2013 Scion FR-S and tC models.
