FRISCO, TEXAS – The Frisco RoughRiders beat the San Antonio Missions 8-4 Sunday at Dr Pepper Ballpark to win game three of the series. Rangers’ catcher A.J. Pierzynski played through five innings in his first rehab appearance with Frisco.

The Missions (22-20) scored in the first for the second straight game. Kalian Sams slammed an RBI double down the left line to bring Reymond Fuentes home from second. A base hit by Johan Limonta added to the early lead, knocking a single to bring Sams home, giving San Antonio the 2-0 lead.

In the second, Alejandro Selen reached second on a fielding error by right-fielder Reymond Fuentes. Selen was brought home on a Guilder Rodriguez RBI double down the right line. Later in the frame, Ryan Strausborger singled to bring Rodriguez home, tying the game at two.

A three run fourth gave the ‘Riders (22-20) the lead. With Chih-Hsien Chiang and Selen in scoring position, Hanser Alberto reached second on a throwing error by Jake Blackwood, bringing home the two runners. Rodriguez singled to right to bring in Alberto, giving Frisco the 5-2 lead.

San Antonio cut into the ‘Riders lead 5-3 in the fifth off a solo

home run to left-center by Everett Williams. Rico Noel walked in the seventh, and San Antonio cut the lead to 5-4 on a hard-hit double by Williams to the right corner to bring home Noel.

With the bases loaded in the seventh, Odubel Herrera ran home from third on a wild pitch by Jeremy McBryde, extending Frisco’s lead 6-4. A leadoff solo home run by Selen in the eighth began a two-run frame to extend the ‘Riders lead 8-4, which was the final score.

Neil Ramirez (4-1) earned the win, pitching five innings, striking out 5 and allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Jose De Paula (3-4) went 6.2 innings, striking out 5, but allowed 6 runs on 7 hits to suffer the defeat.

Texas Rangers catcher Pierzynski played through five innings and threw out two runners stealing. He also went 0-3 at bat. Pierzynski will continue his rehab assignment with the RoughRiders Monday, and will catch for Rangers’ pitcher Colby Lewis for the first time.

The RoughRiders continue their series with the San Antonio Missions at 11 a.m. on Monday at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Colby Lewis (-, -) makes the start for Frisco and will face Matt Andriese (5-1, 2.63 ERA) for the Missions.
