Frisco Loses In Extra Innings

FRISCO, TEXAS – The Frisco RoughRiders dropped game three to the Corpus Christi Hooks 3-2 Friday night in extra innings at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Frisco extended their losing streak to four as the Hooks clinched the Texas League First-Half Championship.

After three scoreless innings, Frisco (37-29) took the lead. Guilder Rodriguez walked and then advanced to second on a Brett Nicholas groundout. Later in the frame, Alex Buchholz knocked an RBI double through the right field gap, putting the ‘Riders on the board 1-0.

Tomas Telis led off the fifth with a solo home run off the first pitch to left center, extending the ‘Riders lead 2-0.

Domingo Santana led off the seventh with a single to right. Erik Castro then knocked a two-run homer to right field as Corpus Christi (41-25) tied the game at two.

The score remained tied at two through the tenth. With one out in the eleventh, Santana slammed a solo homer to left-center to give the Hooks a 3-2 lead, which became the final score.

Andrew Robinson (2-2) struck out one in the tenth to earn the win. Wilmer Font came on in the tenth and pitched 1.2 innings. He gave up one run on one hit and struck out four, suffering the loss. Patrick Urkfitz pitched the eleventh with one hit to be credited with his third save.

The RoughRiders conclude their series with the Corpus Christi Hooks Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Neil Ramirez (7-2, 3.39 ERA) makes the start for the ‘Riders against Hooks’ right-hander David Martinez (9-0, 2.21 ERA).
