Frisco Loses To Midland

FRISCO, TEXAS  -The Frisco RoughRiders dropped game two of the series with the Midland RockHounds 4-2 Sunday at Dr Pepper Ballpark. In his 1,000th professional career game, Guilder Rodriguez became the ‘Riders all-time stolen base leader with 66 total steals, 15 this season

Entering the game, Luke Jackson was riding a streak of 18 straight scoreless innings. Jackson faced the minimum through the first two, but got in a bind in the third. Tyler Ladendorf, Vinnine Catricala and Beau Taylor all singled, loading the bases and then Conner Crumbliss smacked a sac fly to left field, giving Midland (25-37, 58-74) a one-run lead and scoring a run and ending Jackson’s streak at 20.

In the bottom of the frame, Ryan Strausborger walked, stole second and advanced to third on a fly-out. Rodriguez then brought home the run off a sac fly, and later, Rougned Odor knocked a solo homer, putting the ‘Riders (25-37, 64-68) up 2-1.

With two outs in the seventh, Ladendorf launched a solo home run off the roof of the left field Diamond Deck to tie the game at two.

Max Muncy led off the 12th inning with a double to left-center, and Ladendorf walked. Catricala grounded to

first, advancing the runners and later in the frame, then both runners scored on a fielding error by Odor, giving the ‘Hounds a 4-2 lead

Jackson pitched a solid five innings, striking out seven and allowing just one run on three hits. Brett Hunter (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts to earn the victory while Alex Claudio (1-3) allowed two runs on one hit in two innings to suffer the loss.

The ‘Riders conclude their series with the RockHounds Monday at 7:05 p.m. at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Phil Klein (5-1, 2.66 ERA) makes the start for the RoughRiders, while Zach Neal (8-11, 4.21 ERA) will take the mound for the ‘Hounds.
