Garrett Says Starters Will Play As Normal

The Dallas Cowboys, who already have clinched home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs, plan to play their starters in the final two regular-season games, including Monday night against the Detroit Lions.
Coach Jason Garrett reiterated Monday he will give quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott and the other starters a normal workload against the Lions.
“We like the rhythm of our offense and how Dak is playing,” Garrett told ESPN”s Ed Werder.
The Cowboys (12-2), behind the sensational rookie duo of Prescott and Elliott, would set a franchise regular-season record if they close out with wins over the Lions and on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory was officially activated to the roster from the reserve/exempt list and will make his 2016 debut against the Lions.
Gregory’s 14-game suspension to start the season for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy ended last Monday, and the 24-year-old returned to practice Thursday.
“He’s looked good,” defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli said last week. “I mean, he’s so explosive off the ball. That’s all the same. He’s thicker. He’s bigger. He’s gained weight. And he looks really good but now I think as you go, it’s not so much winning the rush, it’s building the foundation to rush. If that make sense. His get off and his pad level. I just want him to get to work and go and then he can, I think if he’s doing that he’ll help us impact the game.”
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Gregory, a second-round pick in 2015 out of Nebraska, has not played since last year’s season finale. He did not have a sack as a rookie after suffering a high ankle sprain in the season opener. He played in 12 games and made just 11 tackles.
To make room for Gregory on the roster, defensive end Zach Moore was released. Moore was added to the 53-man roster last week after spending the season on the practice squad.
