The Texas Rangers defeated the Colorado Rockies 4-2 on Sunday in front of a sold out Arlington crowd. With the win, the Rangers get their fifth consecutive series win.

The Rangers defense learned their lesson after yesterday’s loss. They managed to hold the Rockies scoreless for eight innings to take the 2-1 series win over the Rockies.

Starting pitcher Matt Harrison pitched five innings before suffering a lower back injury. Harrison gave up five hits and no runs during his time at the mound. He is now 10-3 for the season and has an ERA of 3.24.

Alex White (2-6) was the starting pitcher for the Rockies. White allowed six hits and four runs in two and two-thirds innings.

The Rockies offense once again displayed their ability to hit off Ranger pitchers as they recorded all but one Rockie player with a hit in the game. Jason Giambi, Todd Helton and Marco Scutaro had two hits each to lead the hitting display.

For the Rangers, it didn’t matter how many times they hit the ball, but rather how to make each hit count. Ranger’s center fielder Leonys Martin led the Rangers with a clutch hitting display. Martin finished with an RBI double and a two-run triple to seal the game for the Rangers after the first three innings.

The Rangers begin their series against the Detroit Tigers in Arlington. First pitch is on Monday at 7:05 p.m.
