Helio Castroneves Acquited

Helio Castroneves was acquitted on Friday of six counts of tax evasion.  A federal jury in Miami found the Brazilian driver and his sister not guilty on the charges of tax evasion, but was hung on one count of conspiracy.

Castroneves is expected to return to Penske Racing after missing the opening race of the year.  Penske Racing welcomed Castroneves back in a statement released April 17, “Penske Racing is very happy for Helio Castroneves and his family, following today’s verdict. The team has supported Helio throughout this process and will continue to as the matter goes forward. Penske Racing is pleased and excited to have Helio in the No. 3 Team Penske car at this weekend’s Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.”

On his official website, Castroneves thanked his fans for supporting him through this trial, “Thank you for believing, for you prayers and support.
We can’t think of the right words to Thank You enough at this time, but we will soon!
Our faith in God, your support and our family, were the only things that kept us strong!”

Castroneves finished runner-up in the IndyCar Racing Series last year, his second runner-up finish.  He has two Indianapolis 500 victories in his career.  Castroneves was also the champion of the 5th season of Dancing With The Stars.
