PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU) – Jaime Ibarra was named the American Athletic Conference men’s soccer Goalkeeper of the Week, league officials announced on Monday. This is the first such honor for the Dallas native in 2013.

Ibarra, a senior, helped lead the Mustangs to SMU’s first-ever victory as part of the new American Athletic Conference with a 1-0 win over Rutgers on Sept. 20. Ibarra registered four saves in a full 90 minutes of action. The win also gave him his first shutout of the season.

In seven matches this season, Ibarra has 16 saves and a 1.14 goals-against-average.

Sophomore Alfred Koroma was named to the conference’s honor roll for his match winner in the Rutgers contest. He currently leads SMU with three goals in 2013.

The Mustangs are back in action this weekend when they travel west for a pair of matches with No. 6 Washington and Portland. SMU will square off against the Huskies on Friday at 6 p.m. CT, and the Pilots on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Check SMUMustangs.com for ways to follow.
