Arlington, Texas -- The Texas Rangers announced prior to tonight's game that the club has placed right-handed pitcher Frank Francisco on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right latissimus dorsi muscle. To take his place on the active roster, the club has recalled left-handed pitcher Derek Holland from Oklahoma City (AAA). Holland (#45) will be available in the bullpen for tonight's game against Oakland.

Francisco left last night's game with the lat injury, also the reason he has appeared in only 3 of the club's last 15 contests. He has gone 6-4 with a 3.76 ERA (22 ER/52.2 IP) in 56 relief appearances for Texas this season, including a 2.13 ERA (3 ER/12.2 IP) in 13 outings since the All-Star break. His 60 strikeouts rank 4th among American League relievers. The first date he would be eligible to be activated is Sept. 12.

Busch won his second consecutive NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race and his fourth national series race in a row by dominating the EnjoyIllinois.com 225 on Friday night at Chicagoland Speedway.

Busch swept all three NASCAR national series races at Bristol Motor Speedway last weekend and continued his winning ways at Chicagoland. He led three times for 121 laps for his fourth truck series win in nine starts in 2010.

Busch now has 17 wins across the Sprint Cup (three wins), Nationwide (10) and truck series this year.

The only drama for Busch came on pit road under two separate caution flags. On Lap 81, Busch’s gasman had trouble with the second gas can, and Busch lost four spots for the restart. But he charged to the lead on Lap 98 after another caution slowed the race.

Photo by George WalkerIn today’s intense motorsports world known as NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing, starting grids are comprised of 43 drivers competing in 36 points-paying events on 22 short tracks, road courses and superspeedways across the country. The level of competition is closer in 2010 than at any other time in NASCAR’s 62-year history.

NASCAR drivers are considered some of the most talented. They put their skills to the test lap after lap in hopes of gaining an edge on the race track. So equal are the Toyotas, Chevrolets, Fords and Dodges in Sprint Cup racing that in many cases, a team’s best way of gaining positions comes down to seconds gained from precision stops on pit road.

From where do these special individuals who perform those incredible 12-second stops come? Mostly from family backgrounds that span generations, college degrees in mechanical engineering, professional sports, and past careers as short-track drivers and crewmen. Through those doors entered the people that hold jobs in NASCAR’s most coveted arena of racing.

Irving, TX, August 26, 2010 –Salesmanship Club Charitable Golf of Dallas, host organization of the HP Byron Nelson Championship, announced today that the 2010 Championship raised $4.8 million for local children and families, bringing the total raised since the event’s inception to more than $116 million.

“We are extremely grateful to our title sponsor, HP, for their continued dedication to our greater cause and to our sponsors and volunteers whose support and hard work has brightened the futures of thousands of local children and families,” said 2010 Tournament Chairman George Conant. “The tremendous need for our charity’s services has never been greater, and it motivates us to push harder and reach further.”

Funds generated from the Championship benefit Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Centers, a nonprofit organization that provides education and therapy for at-risk children and their families in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. With 8,498 people served in 2009 alone, the demand for the services provided by SCYFC is indisputable.
