Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish suffered his first major league defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Indians on Sunday afternoon.  The Indians got 3 runs in the 3rd inning which turned out to be enough for the 4-2 win.

Darvish gave up 6 hits in 6 innings while striking out 11.

The Rangers could not put hits together to score runs.  Texas went just 1 for 7 with runners in scoring position, as noted by Josh Hamilton, “The biggest thing is we’re not hitting as well with guys in scoring position as we have been.  We’re getting guys on base, we just have to do a better job of getting them in.”

The Rangers finally got on the scoreboard in the 8th inning when Hamilton knocked in Ian Kinsler and Michael Young singled in Elvis Andrus.

Rangers manager Ron Washington lamented the lack of run production, “It’s not like we’re not playing well, we’re just not getting the runs in. It’s up and down the lineup, not just one area. Everybody has had opportunities to get runs in, we just haven’t done it.”

Texas opens a series with Baltimore on Monday night.
