Jon Daniels named Baseball America Major League Executive of the Year

Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels has been selected as Baseball America’s 2010 Major League Executive of the Year, the publication announced today.

“On behalf of the entire organization, I want to congratulate Jon Daniels on receiving this most deserved honor,” said Rangers President Nolan Ryan. “Jon, with the incredible assistance of a passionate, creative, and hard-working baseball operations group, deserves a great deal of credit for the Rangers memorable 2010 season.”

Daniels, who just completed his fifth season as General Manager of the club, is the second Rangers executive to ever receive the honor with General Manager Doug Melvin winning the first ever Baseball America award in 1998. Texas won the first American League championship in the 50-year history of the franchise in 2010, the third consecutive season that the club has improved its win total.

Baseball America announced its annual awards in its current issue, which came out today.
