Kanaan looking for IndyCar sponsor

IndyCar.com reports 7-Eleven will no longer be the primary sponsor for Andretti Autosport’s No. 11 IZOD IndyCar Series entry, driven by former champion Tony Kanaan.

The team will try to obtain other sponsorship in order to keep the car on the track, and to keep Kanaan behind the wheel.  “Our hope is to have Tony Kanaan and the 11 car as part of our IZOD IndyCar Series lineup again in 2011 and we are currently working very hard to find the necessary sponsorship to make that a reality.”, said Andretti Autosport senior vice president John Lopes.

Meanwhile, Kanaan has been given permission to talk with other team owners, despite remaining under contract with Andretti.  Kanaan has 14 IZOD IndyCar Series victories.  He won the IndyCar championship in 2004.
