Kopek Takes 3rd Round Lead At Byron Nelson

Seventy-four professionals made Saturday’s cut with Brooks Koepka taking the lead. Koepka posted a 16-under in the third round of the AT&T Byron Nelson, matching the tournament record low set by Loren Roberts in 1999. This is Koepka’s third start at the AT&T Byron Nelson.

The third round leader has won four times in the last eight years at the AT&T Byron Nelson. (Adam Scott in 2008, Jason Dufner in 2012, Brendon Todd in 2014, Steven Bowditch in 2015).

Spieth posted a 14-under in the third round after a bogey on the hole 18. Spieth has come-from-behind to win two of his seven TOUR titles (2013 John Deere Classic, 2015 Valspar Championship). This is 22-year-old Spieth’s 94th PGA TOUR start.

Sergio Garcia finished the third round three strokes behind Koepka, with a 13-under. Garcia’s last appearance at the AT&T Byron Nelson was in 2011 when he was tied for the 36-hole lead with Ryan Palmer. He went on to finished T2. Last week’s PLAYERS Championship was Garcia’s 300th career start on the PGA TOUR.
