Ladies Win 1st US Gold

Vancouver – Hannah Kearney won the gold medal in the Freestyle Skiing Ladies Moguls competition Saturday.  Along with her, Shannon Bahrke brought home the bronze.  Sandwiched between them with silver was Jennifer Heil of Canada.

Apolo Ohno became the most decorated American man in the Winter Olympics with a silver medal finish in the 1,500 meter short track.  It is his 6th Olympic medal, 2 of each color.  Finishing behind Ohno was another American, J.R. Celski, who almost did not even get to compete after a nasty cut received during the US Olympic trials in September.

Korea’s Lee Jung-Su won the gold.  He was almost joined on the podium by two of his teammates, who were running in 2nd and 3rd when they collided with each other in the final turn and slid off the track and into oblivion.

America led all countries after the first day, with 4 medals.
