Legends Lose At Oklahoma City
|OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, (Mar. 9, 2018) –The Texas Legends (25-19) stumbled in the second half, falling to the Oklahoma City Blue (24-21) 97-118 Friday night at Cox Convention Center.
Texas got off to a slow start shooting below 30% in the first. Jalen Jones led the visitors’ efforts with 8 points and 6 rebounds, but Oklahoma City came out on top 25-22 at the first buzzer. Jordan Downing came alive in the second, hitting 3-of-3 outside to finish with 11 points. Texas outscored OKC 27-25, but after 13 first half lead changes, the home team maintained a one-point edge at the break.
The slight advantage escalated in the third as the Blue put up 11 unanswered points midway through and finished off the quarter with a 12-2 run to jump up to a 90-68 lead. Texas spread the scoring in the fourth to chip away at the deficit, but the gap proved to be too much as the Blue evened the season series 2-2.
Jones led the Legends’ efforts with the game’s only double-double of 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks while Jameel Warney neared a second with 11 points, 9 rebounds, both dishing out 3 assists each. Johnathan Motley finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and Jordan Downing came off the bench for 14 points, 2 assists.
PJ Dozier had a game-high 20 points for the Blue while grabbing 7 rebounds, 3 steals. Dakari Johnson added 17 points, 8 rebounds and Rashawn Thomas tallied 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block.
