Leishman Leads Day 1 At AT&T Byron Nelson

Marc Leishman, ranked #33 in the fight for the FedEx Cup, led the first round of the AT&T Byron Nelson today with a career-best 61. Leishman also set the course record for the tournament’s new home course – Trinity Forest Golf Club. With eagles on holes one and 14, and six birdies throughout the round, Leishman became the first day’s leader with -10.

J.J. Spaun and Jimmy Walker both tied for second at seven under, while Dallas’ own Jordan Spieth capped off the day tied for 57th with a two under par.

Given the over 100 players who finished their rounds today under par, positive reviews came pouring in from top contenders as the fairways and greens proved firmer today than any day before. Drives sailed and rolled longer than even earlier this week due to the warmer temperatures and absence of winds. Day one proved that with the right strategy, patience and skill, Trinity Forest is a links course capable of challenging the world’s best and is a prevailing addition to the PGA Tour.
