Let them race

There has been a lot of discussion regarding the Carl Edwards-Brad Keselowski incident at Gateway International Raceway.  If you didn’t see it, Brad Keselowski and Carl Edwards were fighting for the lead in the closing laps of the race.  Keselowski bumped the leader Edwards, who retaliated by bumping Keselowski back.  Keselowski spun, and the incident caused a multi-car accident while Edwards went on to win.

This is not the first incident between these two, as Edwards sent Keselowski flying at Atlanta Motor Speedway in a similar incident earlier this year.

Many in the media, plus Keselowski’s father, are calling for Edwards to be punished.  What are they thinking?

Edwards doesn’t go around putting people into the fence for the fun of it, he was responding to an act of aggression by Keselowski.  Where is the outcry that Keselowski is going around hitting people?  The difference is that Edwards was able to maintain control of his car.  In all fairness, another difference is that Edwards’ bump was clearly meant to spin Keselowski while Keselowski can claim he was just “rubbing”.

The media certainly should not be down on Edwards, they made a living out of glorifying a man name Earnhardt who did not get the nickmane “Intimidator” by waving nicely to people as they drove by.

If Keselowski doesn’t want to get hit, he shouldn’t go around bumping others.  It’s that simple.  Don’t get into the ring and throw jabs if you can’t take a punch.  Edwards raced cleanly until he was provoked, then he flexed his muscle.  NASCAR wanted to let the drivers race and police themselves, Edwards brought the SWAT team.  Keselowski should learn to play nice or accept the consequences.
