LEXINGTON, Ky. (SMU) – Courtney Manning was named AVCA All-Midwest Region Honorable Mention Tuesday after leading Conference USA and ranking 10th in the NCAA with 1.44 kills per set. At the end of the regular season, Manning’s 184 total blocks were more than anyone in the country.

Manning, a native of Mesquite, Texas, broke her own single-season school record, which she set with 162 total blocks as a sophomore last season. Her 184 blocks this season are third all-time in Conference USA and the most in the league since Julie Tretten set the conference record with 210 in 1996. The 6-0 middle blocker was third on the team with 274 kills, averaging 2.14 per set with a team-high .307 attack percentage.

She is currently second all-time at SMU and 11th in C-USA with 474 career blocks. The SMU record is 530, set by Kendra Kahanek in 2009, and the conference record is 593, set by Stephanie Meinig in 2000. Manning also earned First Team All-Conference USA honors and was named to the COBRA Magazine All-Midsouth Region Team this season.
