Mavericks rule Jazz 118-99

The Dallas Mavericks shot a season-high 57.9% from the floor Wednesday as they defeated the Utah Jazz 118-99 at the American Airlines Center.  Dallas has won 14 of the last 15 games, including 8 straight at home.

With his 18th point (22,196th career) at the 7:46 mark of the third quarter, Dirk Nowitzki moved past Clyde Drexler (22,195) and into 23rd place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. He finished with 23 points and seven rebounds in the game. He now has 22,201 career points. Kevin Garnett (22,960) ranks 22nd on the all-time scoring list ahead of Nowitzki, followed by Elgin Baylor (23,149).

Brendan Haywood posted his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 boards vs. Utah on Wednesday. He’s shooting 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from the floor over his last three games, while averaging 10.3 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game in that span.

Peja Stojakovic tallied 17 points (7-9 FGs, 4-5 3FGs) vs. Utah on Wednesday. The four 3-pointers tied a season-high (four 3-pointers on two other occasions). He’s now shot 59 percent (23-of-39) from the field and 54.5 percent (12-of-22) from 3-point range over his last four games, while
averaging 15.5 points per game in that span.
