Mavericks win 9th straight

The Dallas Mavericks extended the NBA’s longest winning streak with a 112-109 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.  The slumping Timberwolves, losers of 10 out of their last 11 games, nearly upset the Mavericks in Dallas.  Minnesota was within a point of the Mavs with a minute and a half to go.

Dallas coach Rick Carlisle tried to downplay the winning streak, saying, “When you’re in a winning streak, you’ve got to ride it.  You’ve got to keep doing what you’re doing and roll with it because they don’t happen that often in this league. It’s a tough league and there’s a lot of parity.”

Dirk Nowitzki, playing in his 900th game as a Maverick, scored 22, most in the 2nd quarter.  Jason Terry led the Mavs scoring with 26.
