Mavs Dominate Kings 99-60

The Dallas Mavericks kept rolling Saturday night at the American Airlines Center with a 99-60 victory over the Sacramento Kings.  Dallas has now won six straight at home and five overall. The Mavericks are 8-2 in their last 10 games.  The Mavericks have now defeated its last two opponents by an average margin of 29.5 points.

The Mavericks held the Kings to just 60 points on 25.6 percent shooting (22-of-86). It set new Dallas opponent lows for points (was 65 at Minnesota 2/27/07), field goals (was 23 at Indiana, 23-67, 12/6/05) and field goal percentage (was .296, at Minnesota (24-81) 2/27/07).  

The Mavericks held the Kings to just 23 points in the first half of Saturday night’s game (Dallas led 52-23 at the half). It marked an all-time low for points in any half by a Dallas opponent. The previous all-time low for points in any half by a Dallas opponent was 24 by Vancouver (at Dallas 3/13/99, in first half). The 23 first-half points recorded by Sacramento also represented an all-time Sacramento franchise low for points in a half (was 25 vs. Boston 2/26/57). The NBA record for fewest points in the first half of a game is 19 (L.A. Clippers at L.A. Lakers 12/14/99). The fewest points in the second half of an NBA game is 16 (New Orleans/Oklahoma City at L.A. Clippers 3/1/06).

Mavericks guard Jason Terry entered Saturday’s game tied with Washington’s Rashard Lewis for seventh place on the NBA’s all-time 3-point field goals made list with 1,680 career treys. Terry went 2-for-4 from beyond the arc on Saturday and now sits alone in seventh place on the all-time list with 1,682 career triples (Lewis went 0-for-1 from deep against Philadelphia on Saturday). Terry finished with a game-high 21 points (8-13 FGs, 2-4 3FGs, 3-3 FTs) on Saturday. It was the third consecutive game (and the fifth time this season) that he has led Dallas in scoring. No other player has led his club in scoring off the bench in as many games this season as Terry.

Mavericks point guard Jason Kidd returned to the starting lineup after missing four games due to a lower back injury. He recorded five points, three rebounds and six assists in 29 minutes.
