Mavs Down Hornets 87-74

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the New Orleans Hornets 87-74 Monday night in preseason action at the American Airlines Center.

The Mavericks began the game on a 13-2 run and never trailed at any point.

Mavericks forward Shawn Marion recorded eight points to go along with a preseason-high 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in 28 minutes.

Jae Crowder extended his double-figure scoring streak to four games with 12 points, four rebounds, a preseason-high four assists, one steal and one block in 30 minutes. He started at power forward for the Mavericks for the second consecutive game.

Vince Carter tallied 11 points and seven boards off of the Mavericks’ bench. He has now scored in double figures in four straight games and five of the Mavericks’ first six preseason contests.

In his second game back from injury (sprained left ankle), Mavericks guard Rodrigue Beabouis came off the bench to total a preseason-high 12 points in 20 minutes of action.

Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki (right knee surgery) and Mavericks center Chris Kaman (strained right calf) did not play for Dallas.

Robin Lopez recorded a double-double (14 points and 11 rebounds) for the Hornets in the loss.

Hornets rookie forward Anthony Davis pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds to go along with six points and two blocks in 35 minutes.

The Mavericks’ next preseason game is at Oklahoma City (Wichita, Kan.) on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. CT
