Mavs lose Game 1

The Dallas Mavericks fell to the Miami Heat 92-84 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals Tuesday night.

Dallas had trouble getting the ball in the basket, shooting just 37.3% from the field.  Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points, almost half coming from his 12-for-12 free throws.  Nowitzki was just 7-for-18 field goals and only 1 of 2 from 3-point range.  Shawn Marion added 16 points and Jason Terry dropped 12 in the loss.

The Dallas bench was outscored 27-17.

Dallas was out-rebounded 46-36 in the game, with the difference being the offensive boards, 16-6.

Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle isn’t too concerned about the way the team played, “We’ll play better. I’m very certain of that. Again, we had some opportunities that, shot we normally make, they didn’t go down. And so that was tough.”

For Miami, LeBron James led the team with 24 points while Dwayne Wade added 22 and 10 rebounds.

Game 2 will be in Miami on Thursday night.
