Mavs Lose In OT To Thunder

The Dallas Mavericks fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-105 in overtime Thursday in Oklahoma City.  After leading much of the game, the Mavericks fell flat in the 4th period and needed a desperation 3-pointer from Darren Collison at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

The extra period was all about the Thunder’s Russell Westbrook, who scored 8 points to give the game to Oklahoma City.  Westbrook finished with 16 points for the game.  Kevin Durant was the game’s leading scorer with 40 points for the Thunder.

For the Mavericks, Collison scored a season-high 32 points.  Chris Kamen scored 17 and Shawn Marion added 14 for Dallas.  O.J. Mayo continued his slump, scoring just 4 points while giving up 6 turnovers.

Dirk Nowitzki came off the bench for Dallas for just his 2nd game since off-season knee surgury.  Nowitzki scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 26 minutes of play, but is clearly out-of-sync with his new teammates.

The Mavericks drop to 12-17 and hope to turn the season around tonight when they host Denver at the American Airlines Center.
