Mavs Lose To Lakers

The Dallas Mavericks lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 103-99 Sunday afternoon at the American Airlines Center.

Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki recorded his first double-double of the season (370th career) with a season-high 30 points (11-19 FGs, 4-4 3FGs, 4-5 FTs) and a season-best 13 rebounds in 39 minutes against the Lakers on Sunday (his previous high scoring game this year was 26 points at Portland 1/29, and his previous high rebounding total was 9 on three occasions). It was his 224th career 30-point game (first since 4/18/12, 35 vs. Houston). It was also his 107th career 30-point, 10-rebound game. Nowitzki has shot 21-of-36 (.583) from the field over his last two games and is averaging 27.5 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game in that span.

Mavericks big man Elton Brand totaled 14 points and eight rebounds against the Lakers on Sunday. He scored in double figures for the third consecutive game (18th time this season). He’s averaging 14.7 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game over his last three games.

Vince Carter contributed 15 points in 28 minutes off the bench. He’s averaging 18.0 points on 49.2 percent shooting (31-63 FGs) over his last five games. Carter, who has scored in double figures in each of his last five games, has also made at least one 3-pointer in each of his last 14 games.
