Mavs lose to Lakers 96-91

The Dallas Mavericks lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 96-91 Saturday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.  With the win, the Lakers evened the season series with the Mavericks (1-1) and have now won nine of their last 10 games. The Lakers improved to 47-20, while the Mavericks fell to 47-19. Los Angeles now sits 0.5 games back of Dallas (for the second-best record in the West) in the Western Conference Playoff hunt.

The Mavericks went just 4-of-16 (.250) from beyond the arc against the Lakers on Saturday. It snapped a streak of 35 consecutive games with six-plus 3-pointers made, which is the third-longest streak of all-time.

Dirk Nowitzki shot 7-of-10 from the floor in the second half and finished with a game-high-tying 25 points (10-19 FGs, 5-5 FTs) and 10 rebounds. It marked his 11th double-double of the season. Dallas recorded its first loss of the season when Nowitzki has posted a double-double (10-1 record).

Shawn Marion finished with a game-high tying 25 points and a team-high 12 boards against the Lakers on Saturday. It was his ninth doubledouble of the season.

The attendance for the game was 20,619. It was the largest crowd for a regular season game in American Airlines Center history (previous 20,604 vs. San Antonio on 12/20/10). The Mavs have sold out 392 consecutive regular season games at AAC. Dallas currently owns the longest running sellout streak in the NBA. Dallas has sold out all 41 games in each of the past seven seasons.
