Mavs season ends in San Antonio

The Dallas Mavericks lose to the San Antonio Spurs in a reversal of the first round of the NBA Playoffs from a year ago.  The Spurs eliminated the Mavericks 97-87 before a crowd of 18,581 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.

The Spurs came out with a vengance, taking a 14 point lead by the end of the 1st quarter.  That lead would expand to as much as 22.  Dallas rallied to overcome the deficit and would eventually take the lead 57-56 with a 3-point shot by Dirk Nowitzki in the 3rd quarter.  It was the only time the Mavericks would lead as the Spurs came alive again and stormed to the victory.  San Antonio wins the game, and the series.

Dirk Nowitzki finished the game with 33 points, followed by Caron Butler with 25 and rookie Rodrigue Beaubois with 16.  All the other Mavericks combined could only muster 13 points.
