With four minutes left, the Mavericks home crowd left the stadium with a smile on their face. The four home game losing streak that had loomed over the team was finally over.

The Dallas Mavericks easily defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 104-83 in Dallas on Saturday. This came after the Mavericks had loss by 10 points the the Grizzlies in December.

Dallas clicked on all cylinders in the game outshooting Memphis 48.8 percent to 38.1 percent. They also dominated the Grizzlies in the assist column 26-19 as the Mavericks showed hints of the unselfish Mavericks teams from previous years, always looking for their best shots.

“It’s the kind of game we need,” Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said. “We need more of these, but they’re hard to come by.”

The Mavericks led by as much as 34 points in the win primarily due to the almost perfect three point shooting by Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion and O.J. Mayo. They combined to shoot 7-8 from three point range.

Forward Shawn Marion led the Mavericks with 20 points, scoring 12 points in the first half. Nowitzki scored 11 points in the first half, finishing the game with 17 points and 6 rebounds.

“It felt good to be on the other side of a blowout win,” Nowitzki said. “I thought we really from the beginning set a good tone. We gave them nothing easy.”

The Mavericks look to carry the momentum of their two game win streak to Monday when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tip-off is in Dallas at 7:30 p.m.
