Mavs win over T-Wolves

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 108-105 Monday night in Minneapolis.  It is the Mavericks 18th win in their last 20 games.

Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki led all scorers with 25 points, in only 29 minutes of play.  Again, it was the Dallas depth that made the difference, as Brian Cardinal played much of the game for Nowitzki, scoring 12 points and making 3 steals.  Dallas coach Rick Carlisle credits Cardinal, “I don’t remember the last time he has played significant minutes, so to keep himself ready for this kind of situation and go in their and hit four threes and make plays defensively and play they heck out of the game, it says what kind of pro he is.”

Brendan Haywood and Shawn Marion each grabbed 10 rebounds for Dallas, but the boards were controlled by Minnesota’s Kevin Love, who grabbed 17 rebounds and also scored 23-points.  With the double-double, Love ties Moses Malone for the record with 51 consecutive games with a double-double.

Jason Kidd led Dallas in both assists (9) and steals (4).

Dallas returns to action Wednesday at New Orleans.
