Murphy Leads Rangers Over Tribe

The Texas Rangers defeated the Cleveland Indians Tuesday night 10-4 off the bat of David Murphy.

Murphy went 4-for-4 on the night, with 2 home runs.  He is the hottest Ranger batter since the All-Star break, with a .533 slugging percentage since then.  “He had a good night tonight,” said Rangers manager Ron Washington. “He got us on the board early and gave the rest of his teammates a chance to get into the flow.”

Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre also went deep for the Rangers.  Hamilton went 3-for-5 in the game.

Matt Harrison gets the win to improve to 12-9 on the year.  Harrison allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 4 innings.

The Rangers are holding on to a 3-game lead over the Angels in the AL West.  They continue the series with the Indians tonight at the Ballpark in Arlington.  Texas has won 7 of 8 against Cleveland this season.
