National Dirt Track Championship comes to TMS

FORT WORTH, Texas (July 21, 2010) – The Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track will welcome back dirt track racers Sept. 16-18 with the U.S. National Dirt Track Championship featuring O’Reilly Auto Parts SUPR Late Model, Modified and Limited Modified divisions.

The Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track is known for producing the largest dirt track events in the country and the U.S. National Dirt Track Championship will be no exception. The event weekend is expected to draw more than 300 competitors, including a strong contingent from the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Texas Motor Speedway officials are encouraging drivers to pre-register for the event and have added an incentive for Modified and Limited Modified drivers that do so. By registering by or before Sept. 3, if they do not qualify for their feature event they will receive a chance at earning one of two provisional positions at the rear of the field. The positions will be randomly drawn from a pool of pre-registered drivers.

“Our drivers put on a great show during our championship weekend in February and we’re looking forward to having them back again,” said Cameron Branch, general manager of Lone Star Legends and the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. “The TMS Dirt Track crew is working hard to have the track surface ready for some great racing action.”

The U.S. National Dirt Track Championship begins with practice Thursday, Sept. 16, and is followed by qualifying and heats for the Modifieds and Limited Modifieds on Friday, Sept. 17. The weekend concludes with feature races for the Modifieds, Limited Modifieds and O’Reilly Auto Parts SUPR Late Models on Saturday, Sept. 18. Drivers can visit www.texasmotorspeedway.com to register online and view more information regarding the U.S. National Dirt Track Championship weekend.

Tickets for the U.S. National Dirt Track Championship are $10 for adults on Friday and $15 Saturday. Tickets for children 12 and under are $5 for either night. Fans can purchase tickets in advance beginning Friday, July 23, by calling (817) 215-8500 or visiting www.texasmotorspeedway.com. Tickets also will be for sale at the gate ticket booth Friday and Saturday of the event weekend.
