Nolan Ryan gets another win

The group led by Nolan Ryan and Chuck Greenburg won the auction for the Texas Rangers.  The sale is expected to be finalized on August 12 with approval by Major League Baseball.  A last minute attempt by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Jim Crane to purchase the club drove the price up, but Ryan says that is not an issue.  “We budgeted to purchase the ball club,” Ryan said. “Obviously, that budget was adjusted last night to a level that we didn’t anticipate. But we felt like it still made sense for us. We didn’t do it at the expense of some other aspect of the game or our organization. We haven’t really changed what our intentions were or what our goals are.”

The Rangers have thrived with Ryan as the club president this season, they are in first place in the AL West, and have their best chance ever at a successful playoff run.  With the new ownership established, the club has plenty to be excited about.
